Our Philosophy
Mass-manufactured jewellery is made fast and in huge quantities. Every piece identical, polished by machines, and designed to look perfect. At Holesome, we try to take the opposite approach. Our process is slower, more intentional, and shaped by human touch. Each piece carries small marks of the process — tiny textures, variations, and details that make it one of a kind.
We primarily work with the lost-wax casting method, which is over 5,000 years old. Each piece begins as a hand-carved sculpture in wax before being transformed into solid gold or sterling silver in small batches. It’s slower, messier, and can be unpredictable at times, but it is always worth it.
At Holesome, everything happens under one roof. From carving wax to melting metal to the final polish, it’s all done by hand, with care and curiosity. As with all handmade goods, no two rings are the exact same. We like it that way.
About the Makers
Hayden Reich is the founder and owner of Holesome. Originally from Winnipeg, he completed his degree in Art History at the University of Victoria. In his studies he learned the theory of lost-wax casting, and was inspired to explore further. In the spirit of sculpture and keeping this ancient technique alive, Hayden taught himself how to sculpt wax models and transform those waxes into a metal of choice. Holesome is the outcome of that exploration, a commitment to contribute to the ongoing craftsmanship of slow creation through learning and experimentation.
In the spirit of collaboration with other artists, we continue to create unique designs with other makers. Some of these designers include @bublinka__ , @ode2midmorning , @pimb.tattoo.
Our high quality casting is done in Winnipeg, MB, by Brent Reich.
