Custom Design

We offer custom design services to create your dream piece, working with you one-on-one throughout the whole process.

What We Offer

The custom design process is a collaboration between Holesome and the client. This could mean designing a one-of-a-kind engagement ring, changing or personalizing designs from our existing collections, recycling metal or stones from a piece you own, working with your dream gemstone, or any unique design you have in mind. We welcome inspiration and reference images, but keep in mind that we will focus on creating something original that reflects your idea in our distinctive style.

  • We offer custom work in sterling silver and any karat of white or yellow gold.

For gemstones, we mainly work with diamonds, sapphires, and rubies (known for their strength and durability). However, we are able to source a wide variety of natural and lab-grown gemstones.

  • You can expect a 6-10 week lead time once the design process begins. Please let us know if you have a specific deadline in mind.

  • We highly recommend professional sizing for any custom ring. We are able to offer this from our studio, however most jewelry stores can also provide you with an accurate size.

  • The cost of custom work is highly variable and is determined based on the materials, sizing, and complexity of the design. Let us know your budget, and we can work to adjust the design based on this. However, the minimum rate for a custom gold piece is $1500 +tax, and for silver it is $350+tax.

  • We are excited to offer custom hand-engraving on any custom piece. Let us know if this is something you are interested in!

Our Process

1. Inspiration

We start by gathering inspiration images, sketches, and ideas to understand your style and vision. Keep in mind that we will always reflect inspiration in our own style and will never copy existing designs from other artists. We take a non-refundable deposit at this point before starting the design development phase

2. Design Development

Once the design direction is established, we source any required materials and begin developing the piece. Together, we'll refine the concept, discuss materials, and determine any special features such as gemstones, engraving, or custom details.

3. Hand-Carved Model

Using traditional techniques, we hand carve a wax model of the piece. This allows you to review the design, proportions, and details before it is cast into metal. We'll make any necessary adjustments and move forward once you've approved the model.

4. Casting & Finishing

After approval, the piece is cast in your chosen metal and carefully finished by hand. If the design includes gemstones, they are professionally set during the final stages. Each piece is crafted with attention to detail from start to finish.
